Lae Lay Grill is situated on the hillside with a stunning view overlooking Nopparat Thara Beach in Ao Nang. The restaurant has a shuttle service from and to your hotel, as it’s quite a distance to walk up to the hill. But since my wife has a car in Thailand, we didn’t have to use that service.
We didn’t know anything about Lae Lay Grill, but It looked amazing from down the road which we were passing every day during our stay at Maleedee Bay Resort. So we decided to try it out, and it was a pleasant surprise!
My wife, hungry and ready to walk up the stairs. The staff was very welcoming and helpful.
We didn’t book a table, but we were lucky and got a table in the left corner, right on the edge of the balcony looking out at the beautiful scenery.
We enjoyed the lovely sunset while waiting for the food. We ordered three dishes: white snapper with three different sauces, crab in curry, and Tom Kha Gai (chicken in coconut soup) — and I can honestly say that this was one of my better dining experiences in Thailand.
Brilliant food!
White snapper with three different sauces.
Nice atmosphere and decoration.
You can sit under a roof or open sky.
Lae Lay Grill as viewed from the parking, and time to drive back to the hotel after a great night. If you’re in Ao Nang, give it a try. It’s not a cheap restaurant, but not very expensive either. Come here before sunset, 5.00 – 5.30 p.m.
