Well, this is actually a tip for everybody since it’s a good restaurant, serving both Thai and international dishes. Blue Mango is a Swedish owned restaurant with some Swedish specialties in the menu like meatballs, plank steak and baked potato with skagenröra. Located on the main beach road in Ao Nang, just opposite the popular Krabi Resort, the restaurant has around 35 seats outdoors and 70 inside.

The first time we visited Blue Mango we ordered plank steak: a steak, duchess potato and bearnaise sauce served on a Swedish oak plank. Plank steak was a big hit in the 80’s in Sweden and still served in many restaurants. This dish costs 625 THB, so it’s a bit more expensive than other dishes like meatballs – 325 THB. But it was yummy! Pizza and pasta dishes costs anywhere from 200-350 THB and Thai dishes cost around 200 THB.
Plank Steak, a Swedish classic!
The second time we visited Blue Mango I ordered Swedish Meatballs – served with mashed potatoes, gravy, lingonberries and pickled cucumbers. The meatballs were OK, but I had better. Next time, i will try the baked potato with Skagen: prawns, crab and dill in a mayonnaise sauce. A friend of mine told me that it was the best Skagen he has ever eaten, so my expectations are high!
