Phuket FantaSea, located on Kamala Beach, is a huge theme park with the biggest show in Phuket. The park has lots of shops and stalls, and games for the kids. There is a lake area full of koi fish, and a cave looking building with a white tiger enclosure, but the main attraction is the show inside the “Palace of the Elephants”; a 3,000-seat theatre, packed full every night (except Thursdays when the park is closed). The one-hour something show, called Fantasy of a Kingdom, is the longest running permanent show in Asia. Hundreds of artists are performing with traditional dance and song. Acrobats are swinging from the rooftops, pyrotechnic, magic illusion, special effects, shadow shows and elephants. This is a spectacular and impressive Las Vegas-style show.
Some people, including myself, worries about animals in a show such as this. But here, the elephants are the real stars. They are well fed, well cared for, loved and pampered. The elephants work approximately an hour a day, and they sure didn’t look miserable in the show.

The theatre opens at 20:30 and before the show starts at 21:00, you need to pass security and deposit camera and camera related gadgets. Tickets cost 1,800 baht per person for just the show or 2,200 baht for the show and one of the biggest buffet dinners in Asia. Tickets include access to the park and all attractions.
Outside the theatre, it’s allowed to take pictures. Here’s the “Palace of the Elephants.”
A white tiger.
My wife used to work at Phuket Fantasea, and when we got there, many of the staff were happy to see her and her “farang” boyfriend. And we didn’t need to queue for tickets. Sweet!
