8 Incredible Bays in Thailand

Bays are often stunningly beautiful, and generally, they have calmer waters than the surrounding sea and are perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Check out these eight incredible bays in Thailand.

1. Donald Duck Bay (Similan Islands)


The biggest of the Similan islands is often referred to as Koh Paed meaning “island eight”. On the northern tip of this island, there’s a popular viewpoint with a stunning view over the Donald Duck Bay (Ao Kueak).

2. Maya Bay (Phi Phi Islands)

Maya Bay, situated on the island Phi Phi Leh, is an incredibly beautiful bay surrounded by high limestone cliffs. The 200 meters long beach made famous by the movie The Beach featuring Leonardo Dicaprio.

3. Phang Nga Bay


Phang Nga Bay is a 400 km2 bay with 42 islands between Phuket and Krabi. The most famous island is the James Bond Island, an iconic needle formed limestone rock in the sea.

4. Hong Island Bay


Hong Island in the Krabi Archipelago boasts a twin bay with incredible limestone scenery, soft sand, and clear waters.

5. Railay Bay


Railay is a small peninsula with two bays, known as West Railay and East Railay. Accessible only by boat, this slice of paradise is situated just around the corner of Ao Nang.

6. Bungalow Bay (Koh Racha Yai)


Bungalow Bay is a sheltered bay situated on the western side of Koh Racha Yai, south of Phuket. This bay is a popular dive site when the wind during the high season predominantly comes from the east.

7. Kamala Bay (Phuket)


Kamala Beach is a 2 km long beach north of Patong. On the roadside, just before Laem Sing Beach, you can see the entire bay.

8. Shark Bay (Koh Tao)


Ao Thian Og or Shark Bay in Koh Tao with its beautiful beach is one of the best spots in Thailand for snorkeling with blacktip reef sharks.
