Why You Should Stay in Nong Thale When Vacationing in Krabi

Nong Thale is a sub-district of Krabi Province west of the larger tourist area Ao Nang. With pristine beaches and stunning views of the Hong Islands, this secluded area is perfect for a romantic getaway. Nong Thale is also the place to go if you’re a nature lover or just seeking full relaxation. In this post, I will show you why you should stay in Nong Thale when vacationing in Krabi.

Tubkaek Beach

Hammock at Tubkaek Beach

Tubkaek Beach offers stunning views of the Hong Islands with several luxurious resorts lined up at the beach front. The Tubkaak Boutique Resort is known as one of the most romantic resorts in Krabi and listed in New York Times bestseller “1,000 Places to See before You Die”. There are not many shops and restaurants in this area, but you can always grab a taxi to Ao Nang when needed.

Klong Muang Beach

Klong Muang Beach is a lovely and serene beach with stunning sea view. At the center of this small village, you’ll find a few restaurants, small shops, and bars. Some first-rate resorts on the beachfront include Beyond Resort Krabi and Sofitel Krabi.

Nong Thale Lake

The sunrise at Nong Thale Lake is truly something to see! It can be tricky to find this spot, but it’s worth the effort. Check out my drone video (first 20 sec.)

Khao Ngon Nak

Stunning views at Khao Ngon Nak

If you’re like me, you might want to give your body a workout, sweating out those drinks from the last couple of days on the beach. The two-hour jungle trail up to Khao Ngon Nak is the best thing you can do on your Krabi trip.

Hong Island

Amazing limestone scenery at Hong Island in Krabi

Hong Island boasts a lagoon and a twin bay with incredible limestone scenery. If you come here during high season, the beach can be packed with trippers from Ao Nang. Come here early to avoid the crowds.

The sunsets

Wedding picture in Krabi

The sun set straight over the Hong Islands, and I have never seen more beautiful sunsets in Thailand. We took wedding pictures by the pier at Klong Muang Beach, but watching the sunset from Tubkaek Beach could be even better as it’s right across from the islands.

FUN FACT
The movie The Hangover Part II shot a few scenes including the beach wedding scenes at the super luxury Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve located at Tubkaek Beach in Nong Thale.
