Pai Plong Beach and the Monkey Trail in Ao Nang

Pai Plong Beach is a small beach hidden in a bay between Ao Nang Beach and Ton Sai Beach (Railay) which can be reached only by boat or via a 10-minute trail over the mountain from Ao Nang Beach’s south end. The trail is called “Monkey Trail” because of the macaque’s monkeys living around the trail.

The beach is beautiful with lovely greenish water surrounded by limestone mountains and lush greenery. The five-star Centara Grand Beach Resort is located directly on the beach with security guards asking you to sign your name in a book before entering the beach zone and signing out when leaving.

The trail starts here – by the end of Ao Nang Beach’s south end.

A quick stop and a picture of my lovely wife. She was more tired than she looks; the trail is quite steep at places.

Once you are at the top of the trail, the greenery opens up, giving you a glimpse of the greenish water in the bay of Pai Plong.

Swedish girls on the beach

Two Swedish girls soaking up the sun at the beautiful Pai Plong Beach. After a quick signature in the book, we could hit the beach.

During low tide, it should be possible to walk around the mountain instead of over it.

The five-star Centara Grand Beach Resort on the beachfront. The scenery is so lush and tropical. Gosh, this is a resort we wish we were guests at!
