Krabi is different to places like Phuket and Koh Samui where you’ll find long white beaches with an army of umbrellas lined up on the sand and water sports like jet ski and parasailing.
In fact, Krabi is a completely different story. With its natural beauty and incredible limestone cliffs, several national parks incorporate the beaches and offshore islands why motorized water sports aren’t allowed.
You will also not see any sun loungers and umbrellas on the beaches except those outside the resorts. Below are seven beaches along Krabi’s spectacular mainland coast.
1. Railay Beach
Railay Beach is famous for its incredible limestone scenery and attracts rock climbers from all over the world. Located on a peninsula with the mountains cutting off the mainland, Railay is only accessible by a boat giving it an island feel. See more.
2. Phra Nang Beach (Railay)
Phra Nang Beach is a beautiful beach with white powdery sand and turquoise water as you usually just see on islands. It sure is a world-class beach, but unfortunately, it can be a bit too crowded at times. See more.
3. Ao Nang Beach
Ao Nang Beach is not the best beach in Krabi and acts more like a jumping-off point for island hopping between the beautiful islands in Krabi archipelago. However, Ao Nang is the most popular resort town in Krabi with bars and resorts lined along the southern part of the beach. See more.
4. Pai Plong Beach
Pai Plong Beach is a small beach hidden in a bay between Ao Nang Beach and Railay which can be reached only by boat or via a 10-minute trail over the mountain from Ao Nang Beach’s south end. The beach is beautiful with lovely greenish water surrounded by limestone mountains and lush greenery. See more.
5. Nopparat Thara Beach
Nopparat Thara Beach is a 5 km long beach split into two halves by a river a few minutes drive away from Ao Nang Beach. During low tide, it’s possible to walk all the way out to the small limestone islands. Nopparat Thara Beach is a quite beach with mostly Thais who like to come here for a picnic in the shades of the casuarina trees. See more.
6. Tubkaek Beach
Tubkaek Beach offers stunning views of the Hong Islands with several luxurious resorts lined up at the beach front. The Tubkaak Boutique Resort is known as one of the most romantic resorts in Krabi and listed in New York Times bestseller “1,000 Places to See before You Die”. Tubkaek Beach is a great location to get away from the crowds with the sun setting right in front of you. See more.
