Kiriwong is an idyllic village surrounded by lush mountains in Krabi’s neighboring province Nakhon Si Thammarat. I was blown away when we drove through this little village seeing how beautiful and clean it was. I have learned that Kiriwong is an ecotourism destination, self-sustainable without any need for assistance from the government. The town is also famous for its incredible handicrafts making.
It’s quite remarkable that so few tourists make their way here and around Nakhon Si Thammarat. However, holidaying Thais like to come here to enjoy the fresh air, picnic and of course swim in the clean stream that runs through the village. I also saw some people on rented bicycles with yellow flags.
Some families are offering homestays, and there are guided tours to Khao Luang National Park boasting the highest mountain in southern Thailand peaking at 1,835 meters.
So, what the heck are you waiting for? Plan a visit to Kiriwong and Nakhon Si Thammarat on your next trip to southern Thailand. Check out the video below of our ride through Kiriwong.
