Krabi

Krabi is one of the southern provinces (changwat) of Thailand. The capital of the region is the town of Krabi. The town has a population of 52,867 and the province 456,811.

Krabi is a very popular tourist destination and now has its own airport which handles international as well as national flights. With miles of spectacular coastline and limestone cliffs, beautiful beaches, warm waters and one of the world’s most famous rock climbing spots (Railay Bay), it’s no wonder that Krabi has become one of the most popular destinations in Thailand.

Ao Nang

Ao Nang is a very popular resort town, consists chiefly of a main street, which is dominated by restaurants, pubs and shops aimed at tourists. Ao Nang and the main beach is a popular jumping off point for getting to one of the many beautiful islands like Phi Phi Island, Hong Islands and Poda Island.

Weather

The best time to visit Krabi is between the months November to March when the area’s climate is less hot than usual. April is the hottest month with an average temperature of 30°C (86°F), average high at 34°C (93°F) and the coldest month is January at 27°C (81°F) with the most daily sunshine hours at 9 in February. Facing the Andaman Sea, Krabi is subject to a 6-month rainy season between May and November.

The sea is coldest in January with an average sea temperature of 28°C (86°F) and the hottest months are April – August with an average sea temperature of 30°C (86°F).
