Boy, are they lucky in Berlin! Every weekend (during good-weather months) the Thai community meets in a small park in western Berlin called Preußenpark, also known as the Thai Park to cook and eat authentic Thai food. The story goes back 25 years when a group of Thai women arranged to meet each other’s families for a food fest, and since they all lived in tower blocks with no gardens or outside space, meeting in a park was a natural thing to do. Eventually, park visitors started asking the families if they could buy some of their food, and the idea of having a Thai street food market on the weekends was born.
So, if you’re planning on visiting Berlin this summer, make sure to hit the Thai Park for some authentic Thai food — and don’t go for the classic Pad Thai or red curry. Instead, try something you won’t find in your ordinary Thai restaurant like the pork noodle soup as shown in the video below.
