When it comes to rooftop bars, Bangkok is probably the coolest city in the world! There are so many spectacular bars to choose from I can’t list them all. I have picked seven of the best rooftop bars in no particular order. Make sure to visit at least one of these on your Bangkok stay.
1. CHAR Bangkok
CHAR Bangkok is not by far the highest rooftop bar, but it certainly has the most spectacular skyline view of Bangkok.
Address: 26th floor at Hotel Indigo Bangkok 81 Wireless Road, Lumpini, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330.
Vertigo & Moon Bar, situated on the 61st floor of the Banyan Tree Hotel, is the second highest rooftop bar in Bangkok after Sky Bar at Lebua. The fully open-air rooftop bar is one of the first and most famous rooftop bars in Bangkok. Located atop a five-star hotel, Vertigo & Moon Bar request that guests observe a smart casual dress code.
The best rooftop bars aren’t necessarily the highest. CHAR in Bangkok is “only” 26 floors up at Hotel Indigo’s rooftop, but the views of Bangkok’s skyline is absolutely breathtaking – especially during sunset. CHAR is a pretty small rooftop bar but well designed with private lounges by the glass facade. The music was good, the drinks were good. We loved it here!
If you’re looking for a good spot to take pictures of the impressive Wat Arun in Bangkok, you should consider staying at Sala Arun. This charming little hotel offers a few rooms with balcony and a view out over Chao Praya River and Wat Arun.
If you are staying in another hotel, you can always enjoy the hotel’s open-air bar on the top floor called Eagle’s Nest or the restaurant Eat Sight Story. Unfortunately, Wat Arun is under restoration at the moment with scaffolding around the temple, and it was not lighted up at evening. But it is still gorgeous.
Sala Arun is located in the center of Bangkok’s Old City with easy access to all the attractions and landmarks, such as Wat Pho (the Temple of the Reclining Buddha), The Grand Palace and Chinatown.
